We have worked in the film and advertising industry for 25 years, with my role as a Line Producer taking me around the world for commercials, feature films, and TV series. The job was glamorous yet stressful, and being freelancers allowed us to take long breaks, including a year off in New Zealand. Upon returning to Madrid, we found city life overwhelming and decided to move to Malaga, specifically to the beautiful town of Canillas de Aceituno, which we discovered online. We fell in love with Quills and, 21 years later, it remains our cherished home.
Initially, we rented houses and continued our film work, but Canillas always drew us back for peace and serenity. We built our home, Casa Al Zaytun, 17 years ago and restored 400-year-old house in town. During the pandemic lockdown, I embraced a simpler life of gardening, cooking, and making pottery, which became my passion. Two years ago, I decided to quit the film industry to focus on our ventures in Canillas. This transition has allowed us to live stress-free, valuing simplicity and living consciously, despite the financial challenges.
From our modest beginnings 20 years ago, as a local store, we have cultivated our passion for handmade things. The pottery became our muse, leading us to explore both utilitarian pieces such as experimental, each one carrying with it the essence of our dedication and connection with nature.
In Home Al Zaytun, each piece, shop, and experience is infused with our passion and commitment. We believe in authenticity, creativity, and offer you moments that will last in the memory of those who visit us.
